COVID 19

UPDATE   —  March 21, 2020 5:00 PM

 

After serious consideration of the grave health risk involved in public gatherings and in order to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, the Bishops of Ohio have decided — effective immediately –  to suspend temporarily all publicly celebrated Masses and Liturgies.

The Bishops of Ohio dispense the Catholic faithful who reside in their respective Dioceses and all other Catholics currently in Ohio from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass through Easter Sunday.

 

Our Church will remain open Monday through Friday from  10 AM to 3 PM for individual private prayer.  We ask that you respect the 6 feet of personal space of those that are visiting.  Please refrain from coming to the church if you are ill or know someone that is ill or live with someone with a compromised immune system.

 

The following devotions are scheduled during the week:

Tuesdays…. Rosary is at 7:00 PM

Thursday…. Eucharistic Adoration is from 10 AM to 3 PM

Friday…. Stations of the Cross are at 7:00 PM

 

Our Parish Office has reduced hours of operation and is limiting daily staff attendance.

The office will be open each day from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The Roman Catholic Bishops of Ohio, after serious consideration of the grave health risk involved in public gatherings and in order to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, have decided, effective immediately, to suspend temporarily all publicly celebrated Masses/liturgies, at least through the celebrations of Holy Week and Easter.

March 13, 2020 ……The Catholic Bishops of Ohio – out of concern for the common good and the physical as well as spiritual well-being of all of the people of Ohio – have issued to those who reside in and those who are visiting the state of Ohio a dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass for the weekends of March 14-15, March 21-22 and March 28-29.

Out of charity and concern for our brothers and sisters in Christ, we encourage all the faithful, in particular those who are sick, experiencing symptoms of illness, or are at risk of illness to seriously consider refraining from Mass attendance.

 

Our Parish Mass schedule will remain unchanged.

 

On Saturday, we have a Vigil Mass at 5 :00 PM. 

On Sunday morning our Mass times are 7:30, 9:00, 10:30 and Noon.

 CHANGES TO THE MASS

In an effort to safeguard the faithful now that the coronavirus has emerged in Northeast Ohio, the following liturgical changes are to be observed, effective immediately:

  • All priests, deacons and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are to wash their hands with soap and water prior to the celebration of Mass.  In addition, and after the distribution of Holy Communion, all Communion ministers should again wash their hands.
  • The distribution of the Precious Blood and the Sign of Peace are to be suspended.
  • Small holy water blessing fonts and baptismal pools are to be drained.

On Fridays during Lent we will continue to have Stations of the Cross at 7:00 PM in the Church.

 

FISH FRY

Our Fish Fry scheduled for March 13th has been cancelled.

CONFESSIONS

Confessions are heard regularly on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM.

 

PSR Class Cancellation

There will be no PSR classes on Mondays, March 16, 23 & 30th.  Our tentative return date will be Monday, April 6th pending clarification from the Diocese of Cleveland.  Parents are asked to work with their children to complete one chapter per week in their textbooks, until  we return to classes.  Thank you for your efforts to keep your children on track with the PSR calendar.

 

RECEPTION of HOLY COMMUNION

While the option of receiving the Body of Christ on the tongue or in the hand remains that of the individual, it is requested that, out of charitable concern, communicants who are accustomed to receiving the Body of Christ on the tongue, please receive the Body of Christ in the hand until the COVID-19 public health crisis has passed.
